Letha Carrico Wood has a diverse background in the culinary field. She is passionate about teaching food preservation as a logical extension of gardening. The preserving methods she teaches include canning, freezing, drying, root cellaring, and even using the European rum pot. She has written and illustrated a friendly, helpful, encouraging instructional book for the novice preserver. Subsequent books featuring advanced canning and other methods of preserving are in the works.
