Acerca del libro
There are two ways to look at the country of Laos. Firstly, as an impoverished third world country, ridden with disease and famine, among the lowest countries in terms of economic and political freedom; secondly, the way I saw it. It was love at first sight - the first time the humid air filled my lungs as I stepped off the plane, I knew I had entered a very different world. I came with a group of teenage students and one adult leader, a varied group of people but all with the same motive; we were all there to make a difference. Little did we know of the difference and impact that Laos was about to make on us. I sensed the poverty, I sensed the famine, but what I really saw in Laos was unrelated to these issues. I saw people who have endured the worst of what this world possess, but never did I see a face affected by this in a negative way. The children were happy with the very little they had and appreciated every bit of life. The faces of the elders wrinkled, but not from weariness and stress, but rather with wrinkles deepest and most pronounced around their eyes - evidence of great joy and happiness only found in such a simple life - and with simple joys. This is what I saw, and this is what I’ll show you.
