Acerca del libro
After I finished my B.S. degree in Bioengineering from Texas A&M University I decided I would go to graduate school. I graduated with my B.S. degree in December of 1986. Graduate school didn't start until September so I had a lot of time on my hands. I went back home to Kingwood, Texas and tried to decide what I was going to do for six months. At church I met Jack Sadora. We had a couple things in common: we both had B.S. degrees in engineering and we both played guitar. While hanging out together we started talking about traveling around Europe. We both decided it was a great idea so we started to make plans. Every time we got together to discuss how long we would stay we looked at how much money we had and how long it would last us. There was a book out at the time called "Europe on $25 a Day" so this became our standard for how much money we needed. Since I didn't have a whole lot of money saved up I started working at Domino's Pizza. I felt a little strange having a B.S. degree in engineering and working at Domino's Pizza. Every time I got a paycheck I decided I could stay in Europe a little longer.
When we finally decided to buy plane tickets we decided we could stay 2 1/2 months. I don't think our parents were too pleased with that.
On June 16, 1987 we boarded the plane for London, England with our backpacks full of everything we thought we would need on the trip. We both had preconceived notions of what traveling around Europe would be like and what the people of Europe were like. We soon found many of those notions were wrong. We returned from Europe a lot more knowledgeable about ourselves and about other people of the world.
