Acerca del libro
More than a children’s’ books, this is intended as an art manual for early ages focusing on three main skills: creativity/inventivity, color coordination and fine motor skills.
Simplifying shapes is what our children do best. A house would be a triangle on top of a square. A Christmas tree would end up having 3 triangles on top of each other. The sun would be a circle surrounded by sticks. A flower would have five petals of the same color and a green stick as the stem. But can it be more than this? We find the same stereotype patterns in our children’s drawings, most of the time.
While living in Africa I learnt that there can be much more than the eye can see if we only use our imagination. The way the Africans use patterns to recreate whatever surrounds them, opened my mind to a completely different artistic world. The world of Decoration. The world of Patterns. The world of Shapes. Shapes that can give birth to a complex, beautiful world. Different shapes than the stereotype ones we are used to. We can teach this to our children and let them re-invent their world. We can teach them that their imagination has no limits.
The second half of the book comes with pages that your child can draw and color on according to the instructions I enclosed before this section and specifically designed for each of the three skills mentioned above. Enjoy!
