Kate's Cabin On Rainbow Creek Bird Sanctuary is a summer destination for not only birdwatchers, but also the tiny migrating hummingbirds. The book is a short story and photo documentation about the journey the birds have been on to transfer from one feeding station to a new uncharted one. The transistion is a success and the birds now live at Kate's for the summer in august, september & october. Delight in the photos of these birds!

Born in Houston, Texas in 1950 to Thomas and Elisabeth Watson. When I was 12 years old, Daddy bought a farm in Waller County where I fell in love with the woods and everything I find there. After marriage, 2 kids and a career as a chef, I moved back to these woods to care for my parents until they left. I have remained in the woods about 3 miles from the original farm for the last 20 years. The birth of my granddaughter brought cameras and computers into my life. I began to document the life in these woods 3 years ago to make books for Kate. Mom had made me promise to take care of 'her birds' so I bought a place, made it a bird sanctuary, built a camp cabin for Kate, and now the birds Mom fed for 20 years have somehow found their way to Kate's Bird Sanctuary 2 years in a row. No birds left at the old farm, they are all here-over 200 this summer. What great joy and delight I have found from watching and caring for these hummingbirds. One person can make a difference on the planet.
