Acerca del libro
This book is full of short stories by the Dutch author Leo de Lijster from Groningen. Lots of stories really happened, and some of them are partly fictional, but it's hard to tell the difference. These stories are incredibly vibrant with joy of life! And you can tell easily how much love and appreciation Leo has for everything life has to offer; especially the small and simple things.
He tells us about his life as an artist, and how some of his paintings were made and in which conditions. He gives his opinion about lots of things, like art, politics, authority, education, raising children, the mecical institutions and music. And about anything else that comes in his mind at that certain day. He has written a short story every single day since the end of March until mid October 2009, and the first ones are in this book.
You get an insight in his life too, even though it's indirectly sometimes. But you can read about his own family too, and about the happiness and humoristic situations he experienced. And sometimes sorrow, too.
Leo is a very talented writer, with an incredible fantasy and I'm always amazed where all those stories come from! It's a must-have for everyone who loves reading!
Mind: it is in Dutch, of course...
In this book there are also about 70 photo's of the paintings he has made the last 10 years. Of course it's just a selection, as he has made over 500 paintings, but it's a nice selection anyway even though it's in black-white.
I'm Miriam and I'm 41 years old. I was born and raised in Groningen in 1975 and I still live here. I am married to Leo since 2001 and we have a daughter (Rosa, 13 years old) and a son (Isaiah, 11 years old) and three cats. I used to be a nurse, but I haven't been doing that work since my son was born. So now I'm a stay-at-home mom. I started my own business called Two Grey Rabbits in 2007. I design children clothing and nursery gifts and I make them myself too. It's a fun thing to do. My husband Leo is an artist, and he designs website exhibitions for artists. He's pretty good (my humble opinion). I love writing and photography, and I've made web blogs for and about my children ever since 2005. And now I wanted to make books out of them... It's a dream come true!
