time in my life when I was unaware that they had had a life
before becoming my parents. What I picked up about my
family, came from my mother’s older sister, Aunt Lilly
(a.k.a. TT) McCaul nee Dempsey, and from her daughter,
Paddy McCaul Collins. For stories on my own generation of
cousins, snippets of whose lives I have attempted to record,
and all of who are included in this narrative, I have had to
rely on their descendants to provide stories and
photographs, for which I am grateful. I have tried to check
all my facts but I apologise in advance for any ‘clangers’ and
can only hope to be forgiven in the interests of a good story!
