Acerca del libro
Have you ever heard a pithy saying and thought, "That's ridiculous ... who could possibly believe that?" Or perhaps a friend gave you some glib advice and your gut reaction was, "No way. I couldn't disagree more."
In this book, you will find many pairs of sayings, or adages, that contradict each other. In each pair, you may find one truth to be self-evident—an obvious rule or value to live by. But rest assured, somebody else holds the contrary view.
Someone else's truth is positively opposed to your own.
This book's title is "Two Truths," but it could just as easily be "Many Truths." Flip through these pages and choose the truths that work for you.
Judi Bartik Wohead is a professor of communication studies who loves learning from her students and the many other people in her life. For quite some time, she's been collecting adages, fascinated by the way we choose words to reinforce our own sense of truth. She assembled "Two Truths" to celebrate these contradictions. Or maybe she wrote the book simply to entertain her students, family, willing strangers ... and herself. Whatever. Enjoy!
