Acerca del libro
I’ve always been fascinated by Cartagena de Indias. It’s a city full of colors, contrasts and history. This book is a journey through its streets, squares, impressive murals, military and religious monuments, extensive beaches, neighboring exotic islands, and off course, its people!
Cartagena was founded by Spanish conquistador Pedro de Heredia in 1533.
After foundation, shortly it became a jewel for the Spanish Crown and also an attractive place for pirates too. For this reason the city was fortified and surrounded with stone walls, forts and bastions the ones that give a unique historic enchantment to the city, that in 1984 was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Cartagena’s old walled city is a complete Spanish colonial architecture display, with houses, monuments and buildings of vivid colors, huge strong wood doorways and amazing balconies full of flowers.
The city has the power to transport its visitors to a world full of romanticism and an exotic tropical culture.
