Acerca del libro
Twice a year the University of Southern Maine’s nursing program organizes a group of individuals for a trip to the small rural town of Sonador in the Dominican Republic. During their weeklong stay, this group of dedicated individuals, made up of students and volunteer medical professionals and interpreters, sets up daylong clinics in the surrounding villages in order to provide basic medicine and administer examinations (sometimes discovering not so routine conditions). In addition to providing valuable care for hundreds of people who may otherwise go without, the trip serves as a valuable learning tool for the students, as well as a worthwhile cultural exchange for everyone involved.
This book is a selection of images taken from more than 2,000 that I took during the week. A portion of sales from this book will be donated to the University in the hopes that they will continue to do this very important work in the years to come.
