Acerca del libro
Another summer trip to the Vineyard. We all enjoyed our time out there and for the second year in a row we had amazing weather during the day. We went to Long Point every day except for one when we opted for a long bike ride around the Island and an early dinner at Giordano’s.
Again, I spent the early mornings traversing the Island to take pictures. The first sunrise was washed out by an early morning rain and fog, so I headed over to Menemsha to take some pictures of the fisherman. As you can see from the picture above, the only brave sole out that morning was a young woman fishing from the jetty in a bright red raincoat. I walked out onto the jetty and kept my camera and lens dry enough to capture the scene and then I headed back to the general store to get a cup a coffee and wait for the sun to break.
Sure enough, the clouds broke up and the sun came out around 7:30am or so and I was able to talk to some of the fisherman as they got ready for the day and walk around the village. The cover photo was taken the same morning after the rain had past.
This book starts with a handful of pictures from Menemsha that same morning and then moves onto Edgartown for dawn at the wharf and the Lighthouse and spots up island. My nephew, Daniel, joined me for sunrise at Lucy Vincent and a walk up Moshup beach under the cliffs in Aquinnah. The family took in a sunset together at Great Rock Bight. I also spent mornings at Stonewall Beach, Cedar Tree Neck, and Oak Bluffs where I captured images that I have made into color and black and whites -- I have shared both in this book. And, after grabbing some Back Door donuts in Oak Bluffs, I walked around town to capture pictures of the cottages in the early morning light.
Lastly, I tried to capture a number of pictures of just color -- there is a section in the back with sampling of these images. Hope you enjoy!
