221 species of wildflowers, all photographed in the Hitchcock Woods, a large forest in Aiken, South Carolina that is privately-owned but accessible to the public at no charge. This woodland is one of the special features of this charming Southern town.
Dr. Ken Perrine has spent decades running and walking in the Hitchcock Woods. During that time he has amassed thousands of photographs of over 300 species of flora. Over 200 species are included in his book published in 2009 entitled "Trailside Wildflowers of the Hitchcock Woods." A native of Miami, Florida, Ken and his wife Nancy have shared a passion for wildflowers for thirty-five years. Educated at Duke University, the University of North Carolina, and the University of South Carolina, Ken has decided to share his wealth of knowledge about local wildflowers with discerning readers who may share his interest in the outdoors.
