Acerca del libro
Jamilah's Journey follows the life of Jamilah Shamsid-Deen while she lived at Upward Bound House, an organization that helps mitigate the affordable housing crisis on the Westside of Los Angeles County and specifically, its impact on two vulnerable populations: homeless families with minor children. This is a documentary about her daily challenges of being a mother with five children and recovering from an addiction to cocaine.
Jamilah has since moved away from Upward Bound House and lives in her own house with all five of her children who are no longer in foster care.
