Acerca del libro
the world that is inexorably taking its place,
there is a demarcation, tangible or intangible,
however faint. If you learn to notice it and watch it
for a while, you can see its gradual advance.
Joseph Conrad called it "The Shadow Line."
Since the early 1960s, photographer
Terry C. Smith has been trying to trace
"The Shadow Line" with his mind, his eye,
and his cameras. He has focused on the famous
and the familiar, framed brilliantly colorful and
softly muted scenes, frozen action and captured
stillness. He has traveled to some of the most
beautiful places in the world and found
uncommon beauty in his backyard.
As you page through this collection,
you may choose to search for Conrad's
"Shadow Line" and to track the changes
in Smith's ideas and his vision - or you may
choose to study your favorite images,
add your own experience, and create
your own stories.
