“From There to Here” will highlight modes of traditional to contemporary ceramics practice, celebrate the impact of traditional movements that have shaped the field, and envision what will shape the future. This exhibition highlights influential movements in the world of Ceramics, and in addition features contemporary mixed materials, concept-driven work, installation, and performance-oriented practice. The exhibition will seek a contextual locale rooted somewhere between contemporary culture and imagined futures, through expanding and shared knowledge of the past, and its influence on contemporary approaches and materials.
The focus of this exhibition is to highlight the field of Ceramics is at a major turning point both conceptually and physically by showcasing the works from masters to future pioneers, teachers and mentors. The featured artists have helped shape and guide the horizon in the field of ceramics, bringing their strength and quality of the work from one era to the next and ultimately creating the transition and connection from the past that help change the present, and how this present will shape the future.
This exhibition will show both continuity and change of the concepts, methods and materials used in the field of ceramics through the three main focuses: “Past, Now, Future.” through these masters, current geniuses to future pioneers.
“Past” shows work relate to social and utilitarian use of ceramics, “Now” shows work relate history, process and symbols. And “future” shows works relate to concept, material practice, and new technologies.
