The tragic story of The Arandora Star, a former luxury cruise liner used in WWII as a floating prison ship. It was sunk off the coast of Ireland by a German U Boat whilst transporting Italian and German prisoners of war to internment camps in Canada with the loss of over 800 lives. The book is a collection of intimate portraits and recollections of people who were directly affected by the tragedy.

I am a full time professional photographer with over twenty years of experience. I currently have a studio gallery situated in the heart of the stunningly beautiful Saddleworth district in the Northwest of England. I undertake all aspects of commercial advertising and industrial photography using a high resolution digital back and 35mm digital SLR cameras.
I have also recently attained a Masters Degree in International Documentary, Travel and Photojournalism Photography at The University of Bolton. This has enabled me to pursue a longstanding admiration of documentary and reportage photography. The Arandora Star booklet is part of my recent and future exhibition held at Stockport Art Gallery, Cheshire, Another project in the pipeline is a documentary based upon The Palio in Siena, Tuscany, Italy. I spent a week recording the world famous horse race and spectacle, a coffee table book showing my work will hopefully appear her later on this year. Thank you for visiting. phil
