On the 2 April 2009 world leaders gathered in London’s ExCeL Centre to address the global financial crisis.
The G-20 (more formally, the Group of Twenty Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors) is a group of finance ministers and central bank governors from 20 economies: 19 of the world's largest national economies, plus the European Union (EU).
Collectively, the G-20 economies comprise 85% of global gross national product, 80% of world trade (including EU intra-trade) and two-thirds of the world population.
Andreas Schmidt's book "G20" presents within two distinct chapters a detailed record of sections of the wall surrounding the Bank of England.
Photographed by Schmidt on 03.04.2009 after protesters had left their mark and on 18.04.2009 when the graffiti had been cleaned up by the authorities, the photographs in the book document the brief history of dissent and the subsequent moment of excessive annihilation.
Limited to 100 copies.
G20 is the perfect accompaniment to Andreas Schmidt's new book 'The City', published by German photography book publisher Hatje Cantz and due out in October '09.
