Acerca del libro
Over a three year period photographer Charlie Phillips has travelled across East Africa, documenting the wildlife and the people whom he has crossed paths with.
Two dissimilar groups of people are focussed upon in this book - the Ethiopian Orthodox priests of Lalibela and the inhabitants of Kibera, one of the World's biggest slums.
East Africa's indigenous wildlife comprises a large portion of this photographic collection.
Many of the species depicted are regularly threatened by endangerment due to poachers and human-wildlife conflict, epitomised by the exclusion of photos of rhino - with sightings becoming increasingly rare. Photos of animals safeguarded by conservation projects are featured to demonstrate examples of where efforts of protecting these vulnerable creatures are helping to counteract mankind's shortcomings. Consequently, the world population of gorillas and various other species has risen in recent years, demonstrating that humans and animals can live together in harmony.
