Acerca del libro
This book is a photo document of many of the volunteers that helped sew the Magic Chromacity project that was erected in 2014 in Birmingham, Alabama. Artist Amanda Browder worked with the local community, sewing together donated fabrics into a large scale fabric installation called Magic Chromacity. It draped the AEIVA (Abroms Engel Institute of Visual Art) and the Alys Stephens Center at UAB. Featured are sewing groups at various locations around Birmingham, Alabama. This includes, D.I.S.C.O, Art Play and the Art and Art History Department at UAB. Groups such as the Bib & Tucker SewOp were greatly featured in many of the photographs.
This book is an art document of their work into the project, and the collective joy that comes with working together. Photographers that are featured are Jared Ragland, Walt Stricklin and Amanda Browder.
