(From the Introduction page:)
I have always been able to see the beauty in abandoned spaces, crumbling exteriors, and paint peeling walls that have remained untouched for years. Areas void of human activity, where only preserved traces of the past remain have always fascinated me. I have always been drawn to abandoned spaces that do not feel abandoned, where one can sense a presence even if no one else is present, where unseen past lives are able to haunt the viewer.
Inspiration for my work comes from not only the idea of being able to capture the present, a particular moment in time, or a memory that may have otherwise been forgotten but also the world around me, such as organic forms in nature. These organic forms in nature also inspire images that present the viewer with the experience to see the subject in a new way through the use of unusual angles, up-close views, and shadows. In order to accomplish these images, meticulousness is imperative.
Taking time to set up a shot and close attention to detail are central to my work. I prefer not to use computer software to alter the photograph: the image captured should be a true translation from subject to camera, rather than later altering the photograph in order to remove what could have been accomplished with proper composition.
