Acerca del libro
This is a book created for my father, Dallin Malmgren, for this 60th birthday. I believe (and as is testament in this book) that my father is one of those lucky people who was given the chance to do what he does best in life--teach.
Mr. Malmgren has currently taught high school for 30 years (if you include student teaching). He started at a small town school in Ste. Genevieve, MO in 1981. Our family then moved the summer of 1984, where he got a job at Judson High School in Converse, Texas. In 1986, he moved to the neighboring high school, Samuel Clemens. That year he received a "Teacher of the Year" Award from the student body. He teaches and coaches at Samuel Clemens to this day.
This is a small collection of letters from some of his former students to him on his 60th birthday.
Most of the contacting for this book was done through Facebook, though my mom and brother Zack also helped. The local Ste. Genevieve paper ran my request for submissions. The Hearld, the local paper for the Converse and Schertz area, also was willing to run a request, but the editor and I decided there was too great a chance that my dad would find out. There are a little over 60 contributors to this book from almost every year Mr. Malmgren has been Mr. Malmgren, DM, Coach, or Mr. M.
There are stories about his cars, the black buffalo, tennis mishaps, stories about his ghost stories and love stories. This is book is better than first imagined because the responses are sincere and creative. It makes me damn proud to be the daughter of Mr. Malmgren.
