Acerca del libro
As an artist, I’m driven by curiosity of exploring city life, the challenge of visiting places I would never have dared to in the past. I've met interesting characters, made friends, conversed with homeless, and captured street art and music. There is a thrill and excitement about exploring the streets of down town city during late hours of the night. I keep pushing myself to go further, to overcome my fear and inhibitions of walking down dark alleys and approaching strangers to photograph them. Amongst the hustle, bustle of electric night life of the city, scattered on the streets are lonesome, isolated, fascinating characters. They suck the air around them, and drew me into their solitude moments of reflections and sorrowful contemplation. They seek the comfort of hiding their sorrows in the shadows of the nights.
Street photography challenges me to approach familiar places with a fresh perspective. I push myself to be more introspective and aware as to what really appeals me about the subject matter. I push beyond the mediocre and search seeing the familiar with new perspective, under different and unusual circumstances. I really feel that street photography is my calling since it’s a very social, political and cultural practice, making the invisible visible. I look forward to exploring new cities, and learning what the streets have to offer. I am working towards being a member of photo philanthropy and using photography as a means to bring social good and shedding light on important social issues.
