Acerca del libro
For three years Maureen has been working as a documentary photographer with the Kenyan-based non-profit POHK.org, a micro-enterprise and women's empowerment project in the Nairobi slum of Kibera, Kenya. Amidst the obvious obstacles of extreme poverty, she was nevertheless inspired by the resilience of the residents and couldn't help but see the ties that bind us together: work, community, family ties, friendship, cooperation, love, and joy.

I’ve been an artist/photographer for over 35 years. Often, especially with my landscape work, I embrace what I refer to as the ‘intimate landscape’. I’m interested in the worldly as well as the ‘spirit’ landscape. Recently I’ve been working with the Power of Hope Kibera (pohk.org), a non-profit micro-enterprise/women’s empowerment community organization in the Nairobi slum of Kibera (Kenya). Out of this experience has come the series Kibera: a Slice of Heaven. Prints available at Hamburg Kennedy Photographs, NY.
