I believe that sometimes the only way you can get by when you're a kid in a small town where nobody sees things the way you do, is by being transported through words to a place you feel is more suited for you. Or when you've led a privileged, sheltered life that you can be left unaware of the harsh realities of the world until you read the stories of people who have actually experienced them.
