Acerca del libro
A journey into the heart of France’s most beloved region through the rich tapestry of colors that constitute the Provencal palette. Under the bright Provencal sun, the colors of earth, stone, trees, fruits, and flowers give this region its unique character and beauty—from the deep purple of lavender fields to the radiant yellow of sunflowers, and from the bright red of vine-ripened tomatoes to the earthy blackness of fresh truffles, the essential elements of Provence are unfolded chapter by chapter and color by color. A journey to Provence embarks you on a sense-arousing voyage. Fall in love with the timeless landscapes bathed with sunshine, be amazed by the violet oceans of lavender fields, play boules in the Provencal hill-capping villages and enjoy a refreshing rosé wine at a bistro while tasting tapenade olive paste. Follow in the footsteps of seven Popes, the British author Peter Mayle and post impressionist artists such as Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cézanne. Feel the warm breeze carrying scents of lavender and olive groves, sit at a bistro terrace at sunset, lulled by the song of cicadas…Stroll the most beautiful villages of France, such as Roussillon or Gordes - and many others not as popular and much quieter.
The Camargue is like its own little country. The fabulous “Parc Ornithologique de Pont de Grau” is located near Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. There are 9 ha (20 acres) of marshlands, set amidst the greater nature reserve, with the birds of Camargue in the wild. Most of the birds of Camargue, both resident and migratory, can be seen here close-to-hand. The central area of the park has birds of prey, with many different owls, eagles, hawks, harriers, buzzards and vultures. Marsh birds and sea birds are here, with geese, swans, ducks, egrets, storks and herons. And of course the icon of the Camargue, the pink flamingo.
