Acerca del creador
Mary Teresa Giancoli began photographing portraits and communities in Florence, Italy in the early 1980s. She received a B.A. from Wellesley College and an M.F.A. from Hunter College, CUNY. Inspired by Mexican dancers in New York, she traveled to Mexico to photograph the same rituals of daily life. Her work was featured in solo exhibitions and is in the Collections of St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY; Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla, Mexico, Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana, Azcapotzalco, Mexico City; El Museo Francisco Oller y Diego Rivera, Buffalo, NY. Group exhibits include the Flushing Town Hall, a Smithsonian affiliate, the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum, Chicago, Carlsbad Museum, NM, Athens Institute of Contemporary Art, GA; and El Museo del Barrio, AIR Gallery, the Queens Museum, NYC . he was an Artist in Residence of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council , St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY and El Museo Francisco Oller y Diego Rivera, Buffalo.
