There and Back Again tells of a journey that three people took together. On its face, the trip appeared to be about taking care of some unfinished business and doing some much needed site-seeing; what resulted from it became so much more.
They departed from Greenville, South Carolina as a man, his wife, her mother, and a -3 month old baby boy, but returned as a tight knit family unit. You may wonder how a short holiday could achieve such great results. One of the most important things about traveling is who you travel with...who you experience the new with; who you rely on in a pinch.
The closeness in this came from equal parts of laughter, adventure, group time, alone time, crazy time, traveling woes, through the shedding of tears, through giving loads of money to a nice little Venetian artist, through seeing the famous and obscure, through spending real time together.
As you journey through this book you will not see any captions. I am going to allow you to make you own judgements; create your own story through these images. Please know though...this was a real adventure to the people involved and that made all the difference...

that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce
the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may
even become friends"
