Acerca del libro
Opal: A Portrait is about a woman born in the United States in 1922. She was the fourth of five children growing up in depression-era Birmingham, Alabama. A gifted child, she grew up to be a liberated woman in New Orleans, Louisiana and lived her life relatively unfettered by gender roles. She became an educated, free-thinking woman who embraced humanistic values and opposed discrimination: she championed integration in a sea of segregation and racism and owned 2 businesses, all at a time when it was still rare for women to work outside of the home.
