Acerca del libro
A vegvísir (Icelandic 'roadmap' or 'compass') is a symbol in the tradition of Icelandic magical staves intended to help the bearer find their way through rough weather. The symbol is attested in the Huld Manuscript, collected in Iceland by Geir Vigfusson in 1880. A leaf of the manuscript provides an image of the vegvísir, gives its name, and, in prose, declares that "if this sign is carried, one will never lose one's way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known".
Vegvísir is a portrait of the end of a relationship and the journey back from the wreckage. Vegvísir exists both in separate, limited prints (30x40, editions of 3), as well as a 48 page artist's book with text narrative. Both iterations of the project are available for purchase.

Evan Eye is a photographic artist based in Vancouver, BC Canada. Evan’s photographic practice involves an exploration of his preoccupation with spaces in relation to people and memory, timelines and nostalgia. Through analyzing his own personal history, Evan works to confront what he perceives as the mutative forces of time. Through documentation of his family, friends and spaces attached to his own memories, he works to archive his perception of the world and people around him as a document that stands as a representation and proof of his existence.
