In October 2006, Kimberly Kelly Santini pledged to paint one pet portrait each day for a year. That initial year stretched into another, and then another.
Because she simply didn't have enough to keep herself busy, the artist decided to collect her favorite pieces from that first year. She spent time studying them, added notes of hindsight, and penned an essay outlining the project's evolution and her artistic growth.
This volume is the first published (at least two more to come). It covers the time frame of October 2006 through December 2007, and includes over 100 color plates representing more than half the daily paintings from this time frame.
Artist Kimberly Kelly Santini typically focuses her creativity on painting and cooking and art journaling and teaching and dancing badly in front of her easel. She is best known for her acclaimed daily painting commitment "Painting a Dog a Day," featuring a new pet portrait on a daily basis. She recently has ventured into painting vintage toys and young dancers along with a couple animals each week. 2013 marks the artist's 8th year of daily painting, and her blog continues to provide a candid peek the life or a working mom, animal advocate and artist.
