Acerca del libro
[Note: Prospective purchasers are advised to order the Hardcover, Dust Jacket version]
With half of Britain, 37,000 square miles, having been licensed by the government for shale gas exploration, Gary Liggett takes a look at the Trough of Bowland, which is one of the areas within the Strategic Environmental Assessment area.
There is a certain irony that somewhere which has remained virtually unchanged for thousands of years, is being considered for such a controversial process; especially during the 50th anniversary year of it having been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1964.
Liggett is best known for his timeless, hand tinted, monochrome imagery. However, in a rare break with his traditional style, he has also created full colour plates in order to depict the present day reality of this beautiful place. This juxtaposition between old and new, past and present, highlights the very real threat, not just here, but also to many other beautiful areas of the United Kingdom, including National Parks, Sites of Special Scientific Interest and other Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
