Acerca del libro
Words are codes we assign to shapes to create meanings.
The word chair according to the Oxford Dictionary is 'a separate seat for one person, typically with a back and four legs'. But who is to say it doesn't mean 'a type of hat made out of the extra skin of obese people who have lost a lot of weight'?
The Etymon Report is a series of illustrations that show that these codes are not as fixed as we may think. All it takes is for one person to misinterpret a word and suddenly it takes on a whole other meaning.
It was only in November last year that the term Slow Jam was added to the Oxford Dictionary, meaning 'a slow, romantic song (chiefly in R&B pop music)'. Before then it meant a fruit preserve with low IQ.
The first part of The Etymon Report is a collection of pen and mixed media (post-it notes) illustrations that depict a cast of prisoners who are as insane as the juxtaposing definitions that make them.
