Ghosts of Potomac Yard is a personal recollection of the giant railroad classification yard in Alexandria, Virginia that operated from 1906 to 1989. The book features loose, impressionistic renderings of railroad cars done ‘plein air’ from vantage points overlooking the yard during the summer of 1984. Each of the 21 drawings includes a historical thumbnail of a “ghost railroad” of the 19th or 20th century. The book also includes an illustrated history of the yard.
