Acerca del libro
In 2008, while at the University of California, San Diego, Lesha Maria Rodriguez started to experiment with the lumen print process. Through further experimentation and working intimately with the process, she was drawn by its directness—creating art forms from pure, organic media—synergistically from just the power of the land and sun. By this method, each print is unique and cannot be exactly repeated.
Focusing on indigenous plants of Oaxaca, Mexico she sets out to meticulously catalogue and capture this extremely fragile habitat. Struggling with severe rain and extreme climate changes she improvises new techniques and strategies that result in a breathtaking display of color and fragility preserving the cultural significance of the regional flora through ecological practices.
This initial (lumen prints) book, Botany Studies, is the first in an upcoming volume from a collection of work in Oaxaca from 2007-2013.
66 pages, Hardback 13"x11"
