Acerca del libro
If you like photography like I do, China is heaven. Street life or documentary
photographers can wander around for days and see interesting topics on the streets
and around every corner.
But how about nature photographers and the fine art lovers? Are there still places in
China where they can find their favorite form of photography?
A few years ago I read an article in a magazine about the sparse populated province of
Inner Mongolia. Situated just south of the country Mongolia, both countries share the
large Gobi desert. Although parts of the Gobi itself are just boring, flat land, other
parts are home to fascinating nature, beautiful landscapes and less people.
In spring 2012 I have visited two different areas, both part of the Gobi but both totally
different. One area lies a few hundred kilometers from the Chinese rocket launching
site Jiuquan, close to the city of Ejin Banner (also called Ejin Qi or Dalian Hob) and
famous for a specific kind of trees. The other place I have visited is the Badain Jaran
desert, a few hours north of the Silk route city of Jinchang.
This book is the result of 10 days of intense photography and spectacular driving
through deep sand and over huge dunes. I spend many hours in the middle of one of
the most beautiful deserts in the world.
Since then we have spend a lot of time organizing a spectacular phototour to these
places. From October 2014 this tour will be available. Dedicated to nature, landscape
and fine art photographers.
