Acerca del libro
This book documents the inaugural spectacle that launched cutting edge Utah based performing art and design collective: NOW-ID. Both documentation and a work in its own right, the book chronicles the unique, award winning performance thru development, design and execution.
The performance explored the space of ritual – Preparation, Fire and Transformation - and was staged July 26 and 27 in the historic Salt Lake City Masonic Temple. Choreographed by artistic director Charlotte Boye-Christensen, The Wedding showcased the talents of Joffrey Ballet’s Yumelia Garcia; Ballet West’s Katherine Lawrence; Ted Johnson, NY based dancer most recently seen in “Sleep No More”; and former Ririe-Woodbury dancer Joseph Blake. Dancers worked with Danish installation artist, Sophie Dupont as well as composers Alex Ollo from Australia and Jens Horsving from Denmark, and of course our local artist ‘groomsmen’: Nathan Webster, Gary Vlasic, Jesse Walker, David Newkirk, Mark Hofeling, Garrick Peters and many more.
The performance was a collaborative and context-driven work where the artists and site itself generated many of the fundamental ideas for the project. All together the various elements combined to create a highly charged, intellectually and emotionally transformative experience that engage both a local and international community and, oh, between all the above, a Canadian and a Dane got actual-married in front of 100 friends and family from all over the world.
