Technology has brought many new methods of creating and conveying content and ideas beyond that of traditional writing and reading. These new methods bring a necessity to include media into what we define as literate (ability to read, analyze, critique and communicate) and therefore, as a teacher, what needs to be included in our pedagogy. Furthermore, as a distinct and fundamental characteristic of Lutheran education, we need to incorporate the Christian perspective into the subject of media literacy. This curriculum, combining the questions and concepts presented by the Center for Media Literacy and a biblical perspective, will hopefully be a launching point for Lutheran educators to learn and share media literacy within their classroom.
