Acerca del creador
Yolanda Velázquez is a printmaking and mixed media artist. She received a BFA from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago, also studied at the Universidad de Barcelona, Escola Superior de Disseny I Art “Llotja”, Atelier Contepoint in Paris and Academia San Carlos in Mexico City. Her works are found in collections from Puerto Rico Museum of Contemporary Art, Stanford University (California), Universidad de Alicante Museum (Spain), Casa de las Américas (Cuba) and Museum of Anthropology, History and Art from the University of Puerto Rico, Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (Mexico). She is co-founder of Jornadas del Grabado Puertorriqueño, a non-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of the printmaking arts in Puerto Rico. Last year Velázquez founded Taller La Ciénaga, a community-based studio incubator for design and printmaking within a public school structure that was rescued from abandon by neighbors from the area where she currently lives.
