Book award recipient, this is the third book in Bruce Johnson's History of Gear series. It's an illuminated and lavishly illustrated look at the history of one of America's best-known and most respected gear pioneers, Holubar Mountaineering, founded in Boulder, Colorado in 1947. Both people and the gear itself are covered in detail, with many contributions from original staff, up to and including the company's beloved President Jim Kack. The daughter of the founders, Linda Holubar, adds many engrossing details and uncompromising accuracy. In May 2010 the book was honored as one of the Year's best Local History works at Chautauqua in Boulder. In June of 2011, it was presented to the Boulder climbing community by the author at Neptune Mountaineering and at the Carnegie Library for Local History. This book is recently revised and has added content.
My FIVE Blurb books combine many of my passions. The lure of beautiful, innovative outdoor gear drove me into the history of the industry and its colorful founders. The fun was in the researching, writing, photographing, and tracking down mysteries. This is the kind of work I enjoy the most. www.Historyofgear.com Please visit my www.Oregonphotos.com website, where you can simply click the "About Us" button to access a complete 2 page Biography of me!
