This is a memoir, in photographs, of my nine years spent in Madison, Wisconsin. This is the place that was my first home in America, that MEANT America to me; the place where I got my start as a photographer, where I first heard jazz, where I feel I started a new life. The images in the book are as much about Madison the city as about myself. These pages contain a piece of my personal history. It is my attempt to preserve the memory of those nine, and, yes, nice years after I moved to America from my native India.
Originally from India, Arvind Garg moved to the United States in 1976. Since 1985 he has lived and worked as a fine art photographer in New York City. Arvind's images are in the permanent collections of the New York Public Library, the Brooklyn Museum, Herbert Johnson Museum, Cornell University, Madison Art Center, Wisconsin, the Historical Society of Wisconsin, as well as in several corporate and individual art collections. Arvind is a contributing member of Corbis and Getty Images photo agencies.
