After a perfect wedding day on September 13, 2008, Marty Pouwelse and his new wife Michelle Binning spent the following four weeks in one of the countries he'd most wanted to travel: India. She did the research. He just wanted to be there.
Four weeks would never allow the entire country, and the south, it was said, was easier for the uninitiated. From the busy Karnatakan capital of Bangalore, north for an essential stop at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hampi, back down to the palace city of Mysore, through Ooty in the famous tea making region of the Nilgiri Hills, further south to the quaint coastal colonial town of Fort Cochin, east to Kumily and the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, and across to the beach-side temple town of Mamallapuram on the east coast - the colour and diversity of their experience would be matched only by the country itself.
The only thing booked ahead besides their flights in and out was their first hotel and first train trip. After that, only their wits, passion for travel, and love of all things Indian would get them through.
This book is a record of the detailed emails Marty sent home to family and friends during the trip and an extensive visual account as a result of his passion for photography.
For a lifetime together for Michelle and Marty, this was a hell of a way to kick it off!

Brisbane, Australia
I'm a passionate but easy-going, Brisbane based portrait, wedding, event and commercial photographer. My images are striking but affordable. I also have a passion for cityscapes, landscapes, and severe weather. You can check out my storm chase images and reports mainly from around Brisbane and SE Qld, but I've also made a couple of trips to Darwin and the Top End during it's magnificent wet season. I've been lucky enough to capture images while flying with the aerobatic stunt team, the RAAF Roulettes, and from aboard the amazing powered blimp, the Holden Airship.
