Acerca del libro
These series of works are based around the themes of visual communication and information overload. An initial inspiration for the artworks was the ‘test card’ screen shown when TV stations (such as the BBC in the UK) finished broadcasting for the evening.
We live in times where large parts of the population of the world have access to 24-hour information and communication methods, via the internet or through mobile phones. This amount of information can be overwhelming. The previous generation were restricted by TV channels ending broadcasts late evening. There was no internet or mobile phones, and news updates were obtained via newspapers or TV / radio updates.
These artworks are created by digitally recycling this visual information into new multi-layered, mixed-media artworks. The artworks contain news headlines, distorted imagery and abstracts from various information sources – both online and offline. The title of each piece is taken from a news headline, with further related text contained within the artwork.
