Joseph Wayne Barnes was born in Alexander City, Alabama. After graduating from Sylacauga High School in 1985, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He spent several years touring overseas and witnessed firsthand both triumph and tragedy in the human condition.

He currently lives with his fiancée in the "Live Music Capital of the World", Austin, Texas.

Joseph writes about the many facets of the heart. Kingdoms is a journey from the beauty of love, to the determination to suceed, to the devastation of grief, loneliness, and despair.
