TALES OF WILLIE McCOVEY is the author's way of paying tribute to the Hall of Fame baseball player for his 75th birthday. However, each of the three sections is only loosely tied to "Stretch," a boyhood hero of the author. Most prominent in the book is the center section, dealing with the author's Courtship of his wife on the 35th anniversary of that event which all began, of course, on Willie Mac's 40th.
Chet Jelinski is 59 and loves to write. A Christian since 1975, he has written and self-published books about inspiring people he's known, sports and Scripture as his wife of 35 years, Beth, has encouraged him. His Biography of Cicely Tyson is the first and only one of its kind in the world, and he also is an artist and writes Gospel tracts. Many times Chet includes his artwork on the cover of, or inside of, his books.Together, Chet and Beth have three grown children and two grandchildren and they presently live in Whiting, New Jersey. He gave up his carpet cleaning business after 35 years to write full-time and has self-published a dozen books.
