This book holds a collection of images created during a visit to Paris at the end of January, 2008. I was blessed with the chance to be there without much more to do than walk, and that, I did. Endlessly. Every day. And I fell in love with the light, the shapes, the grandeur, the beauty of all Paris has to offer in a season that most visitors do not get to experience. In fact, I found Paris to be far more beautiful and timeless in the winter, with the leaves gone, the bones of the trees set against the cathedrals, the bridges, the bundled people strolling the streets.
In this collection, Ive manipulated my images to try to evoke the timeless nature of Paris. I cannot wait to return. In winter.
I am one of the Pennsylvania farm boys who got to see the world. In my junior year of architecture school, I had the opportunity to study in Europe, and everything changed. After completing my studies in Germany, I traveled extensively from the fjords of Norway to the Isles of Greece. Often traveling solo, I got to experience life at its finest - not in material goods (after all, sleeping on trains every night because a Eurail pass is all one has) isn't glamorous, but it certainly was beautiful. Which has become my life's mission. To see beauty and capture it. To help create it where I can. To live it. Since college, I've lived in Philadelphia, New York and Boston, and now live in the bucolic and culturally rich Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts. It's been inspiring, a place of intelligent, creative and lovely friends. But now, not being 'winter-folk" my partner and I are adding Miami to our resumes. Ocean light. Warm breezes. a Latin beat. I cannot wait to share it all.
