This book is one outcome of 5 months research in Dhaka by the author working with local policy reseachers and development activists trying to promote changes in policy towards rickshaws and their families. This accompanies exhibitions, advocacy, lobbying and publications in Bangladesh with these pullers, and exhibitions and websites in London.

Ten rickshaw pullers of over 2 million who do this work in Bangladesh are featured here, giving an insight into the realities of their lives that few others - Bangladeshis and foreigners alike - ever see. A door is opened on their poverty, fortitude and dreams.
