Renowned photographer Brownie Harris shares 40 years of portrait and commercial photography in 60 beautiful pages which include portraits of Andy Warhol, John F. Kennedy, Jr., Miles Davis, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Giancarlo Esposito, Anthony Hopkins, Billy Burke, Paul Newman, Daniella Alonso, Carly Simon, Tracy Spiridakos, Truman Capote and many others. Additionally, commercial and industrial photography assignments for ESPN, Raytheon, NASA, CBS, General Electric, NBC Universal and Warner Bros are also included.
The challenge of finding the hidden beauty in the working world drew Brownie to photography. After receiving a BFA in Communication Arts & Design from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1971, Brownie moved to New York City, where he painted lofts, drove a taxi and worked as a photo assistant. Soon after, he landed a job as a graphic designer at Educational Broadcasting Corporation and created the photography department for WNET/ Thirteen/ New York.
In the years to come, Brownie traveled the world on corporate advertising assignments. Whether photographing the luminaries of our time or ordinary people at work in factories and on farms, Brownie captured each story with the same respect.
