Acerca del libro
Tuscany (Toscana) is the most spectacular and culturally rich region of Italy. Tuscany was the region most visited by artists and poets, and Tuscan dialect was also the source of the Italian language. With a population of about 3.5 million people, its capital is the city of Florence. However many of the smaller towns and cities in the region are deserving of a visit as they contain many of the gems of Italian art and history. Indeed, Tuscany is home to six UNESCO World Heritage Sites of which three are covered in this book; the historical centre of Florence, the centre of Pienza, and the Campo de Miracoli in Pisa.
The images in this book were taken during a visit to the region in 2011. They convey some of the magic of the classic Italian landscapes, medieval hill-towns, and great works of art and architecture found in the region of Toscana. Above all, Tuscany is central to understanding the culture of Italy, and indeed Europe as a whole, since it was in this region that the Renaissance was born and flourished.
