A Kurdish refugee in Huddersfield influences choices about the colour of his balcony. He’s been pushed around for a few years and no-one, but no-one, has given him the right to make any choices. Loca looks at the space he’s living in, a rather shabby block of flats, and says, ‘This isn’t someone else’s space, it’s yours, for however short a time. You can make a choice and bring some zesty colour into your life.’

It is no accident that a space regenerated with Loca nearly always becomes a decorative place of colour. Not dull, not boring, not shabby. So let’s hear it for the gates of Brackenhall, the shop fronts of Chickenley, the balconies of Berry Brow and the kingfisher of Ravensthorpe!
