Acerca del libro
Bus stops are unlike any other part of public transport.
Train stations are either grandiose or utilitarian,
bristling with a pulse of travellers coming and going. Underground platforms are identical copies that overflow with the ordered chaos of crowds. Taxi ranks sit stoicly, each car subtlely trying to entice customers while prices are bartered.
Bus stops, however, exist within the environment they are in, rather than create one of their own. They become a part of the landscape, slowly shifting from uniformity to end up mirroring their location.
However, the most dramatic difference is the people. Waiting. Checking watches, checking phones. Looking out for an incoming bus.
Body language changes. Eyes seldom meet.
Bags shuffle and sighs escape.
Maybe there are no words spoken, or perhaps a catch-up on gossip is underway.
In “BUS”, photographer Dan Wallace attempts
to capture the infinite variety of social interaction
and unique environments that only occur on bus stops.
